10 Tips for a Killer Facebook Business Page

One of the reasons I love my company‘s community face book forum is because of the information and tips shared by other consultants. This week someone shared notes about Facebook Business Page training and I wanted to share those notes and add some additional tips here as well. We could all use some help with social media and if we are going to be on Facebook, we should make the most of it.

Check out Peg Fitzpatrick’s tips on “Easy ways to supercharge your Facebook Business Page

Here are Leslie’s notes:

1. Make a nice timeline cover photo using Canva, tell who you are, what you’re about, and include pictures there as well about any promos or upcoming events.

2. Make sure on your MAIN FB page under “about” you are actually linking your business FB profile spage under “work”

3. Use the big search bar at the top of FB and search something like “pages liked by fans of….” I typed in “non-toxic products & healthy living” and found a bunch of local FB groups to join that I didn’t know about.

4. This one is KEY. Overly promotional posts will get LESS priority in News Feed. The FB algorithm will not make your posts visible if they are purely promotional. Best practices ~ posts that are REAL, PERSONAL, HAVE VALUE, and are SIMPLE. Post personal pix too, and non professional pix – ones you take with your cell phone, not always from social shareables – and even post a quick video ~ people like to buy from real people!!!

5. If you follow fellow consultants’s business pages, always like and try to comment – what drives a posts reach is engagement via likes, shares, & comments.

These tips were shared with the community from my company, however they will work for any consultant regardless of your social selling business.

I would love for you to give me some feedback on my fan page. Not sure why it’s not getting much interaction. http://www.facebook.com/patienceandmaceeleigh. Thank you in advance

    • luckyandlovely February 16, 2016 at 3:27 pm

Patience, I checked your page and liked it!! I think its great and I appreciate your comment!!

  • Jaszime February 13, 2016 at 11:11 am

Im sorry. I cant take you serious when you only have 618 facebook likes.

    I think you are peddling.

    • luckyandlovely February 16, 2016 at 3:25 pm

Thanks for your comment. What I was sharing was how to improve your page and I mentioned that I am posting to help others because I too, need to implement the tips that I shared. The key to making these pages work for you is engagement with the fans you do have, the point is not to focus solely on the numbers. I have great engagement with my 618, I have made sales and recruited new consultants as part of that 618. I answer countless inbox messages daily from my fans. Again, focus on engagement with who you have. Hence why I wrote the post so that I could improve the page for my current fans. Not sure what “I think you are peddling” means but I would love to know. Again, thanks for taking the time out of your day to comment on my blog!

      Hi Rae Ann,
I think targeted paid facebook ads can be great. Use them to build an email list so you can get inside potential customers inbox. Then you can create targeted email marketing that works.

P.S. I love Arbonne!! Thanks for commenting!

  • Kaitlyn July 30, 2016 at 8:50 am

great article! I have never hard of canva before and can’t wait to start using it. I have one question, open to anybody.. For a business on FB, would it be better to create a page for your business or create an account? I feel that if I just use my personal FB account and add customers to it, I don’t necessarily want them to see ALL my personal biz

    • luckyandlovely July 30, 2016 at 10:15 am

      Hi Kaitlyn!
What business are you in? My advice is to create the business page as well as a private VIP group. That way you have a public and private place to market your biz. You can use hootsuite or cinchshare to post content for you. Hope that helps!!

  • Bits about Books - Caroline Vincent October 27, 2016 at 10:58 am

Thanks very much for your informative article! I like it – but I’d like to ask you a question. I have a website/bookblog and next to my FB personal page a FB page related to the website (FB.com/bitsaboutbooks). When you talk about putting personal stuff on the page, then the difference between the personal page and (business) page is .. in fact non existant. So which do you prefer? Just using the personal page to attract visitors or do both – so much overlap! Interested to hear your point of view.
Thanks! Best wishes, Caroline – Bits about Books
